Donburi Rice Bowls started appearing in the Edo era (1603-1837) in Japan. The first donburi to appear was the unagi don; a broiled unagi (or eel) was used to top the cooked rice inside the bowl. During this period, donburi rice bowls were the go-to dish when patrons went to the theatre.Since the meal was very easy to prepare and tasted good, the donburi concept quickly spread throughout Japan and became very popular. Other popular donburi dishes started appearing during the Meji era (1866-1912) that include the Oyako Don, Ten Don and Gyuu Don. It is now a household favourite for maany Japanese families.
Donburi is happy to bring an instant classic: The Beef Gyuu Don with authentic tastes found in kitchens throughout Japan. At Donburi, you can also enjoy some of the other classic donburi bowls including new ones using fresh ingredients and contemporary flavours.
